DISCUSSION PAPER ON COROWA PEOPLES CONFERENCE 2001

3. Suggested Categories to Receive Personal Invitations to Attend as Members of the Conference

3.1 Each parliamentary party leader and each Independent in the Commonwealth, State or Territory Parliaments (a member of a political party who is the only member of that party in a particular Parliament is treated as an Independent).

3.2 The Presidents of the political parties represented in the Commonwealth Parliament.

3.3 People representative of the organisations formed or groupings which have developed to promote a view on the Head of State issue. They would include people taking a leading part within organisations such as the Australian Republican Movement and Australians for Constitutional Monarchy or within groupings supporting the various Head of State models proposed for the Australian federation if it separates from the monarchy.

3.4 People representative of local government.

3.5 Members of the Corowa Shire Council or of the Corowa Federation Centenary 2001 Committee.

3.6 Retired Governors-General, Governors, Administrators of the Northern Territory, Prime Ministers, Premiers, Chief Ministers and Leaders of theOpposition.

3.7 People who because of their constitutional or political experience, experience in business, unions, the public sector or other organisations, or because of their learning and knowledge are suitable members of a Conference considering process for the early resolution of the Head of State issue.

3.8 The Speaker and Deputy Speaker and the President and Deputy President of each Lower and Upper House of Parliament.

3.9 The members of and candidates for the federal and state electorates in the region around Corowa.

4. Suggested General Invitation to Attend as Members of the Conference

4.1 A general invitation by advertisement or otherwise to all Australian residents interested in attending.

5. Suggested Invitations to the News Media to Cover the Conference

5.1 Direct invitations to media organisations or individuals with a particular interest in the Conference and its work.

5.2 General invitation by advertisement or otherwise to all the media which can be accommodated.
