(1) Is there any way to manage my account without the Control Panel?
Yes you can. First you need to login through our dial-up system login page available through http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au and then follow the prompts to perform any of the following functions:
- Check my usage
- Top-Up my Account
- View/Update my Account
- Convert to Monthly

(2) Is there any way to create a Chilli dial-up account without the Control Panel?
Yes you can although you will need to go to http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au and click on the New Account button.

(3) How long is my Chilli prepaid dial-up access valid for?
Each Chilli Prepaid Internet set of access keys is valid for the period specified on the kit or prepaid voucher, until the expiry date is reached, whichever comes first. The expiry date is calculated when the Access Keys are activated.

(4) How do I know how many days left on my prepaid account?
The Chilli Control Panel tells you when your account will expire, taking into account any top-ups you have done and is updated every time you are online.
To find out your general usage statistics such as how much you have downloaded over a period and how long you have been online, please click on the Check My Usage button on the Chilli Control Panel.

(5) How do I know I am approaching my expiry date?
Your Chilli Control Panel available from the desktop of your computer should automatically tell you when you account expires. It updates itself every time you are online to ensure that you have the latest status of your account. To avoid being without an internet connection Chilli recommends that you top-up your account at least 3-5 days before the expiry date.
You do not need to create a new account. You can top-up your account through the Chilli Control Panel or by using the Top-up option on your CD-Rom.

(6) What happens when my Prepaid access runs out?
We will place your account on hold for 3 months during which time you have the ability to Top-Up the account or Convert to a Monthly Plan

(7) How do I top-up my Prepaid account?
There are three methods currently available for Topping-Up your account.
- Through the Control Panel: Purchase another Chilli prepaid pack > click on the Top-Up My Account button through the Control Panel > enter the Access Keys in the pack then follow the prompts.
- Through the Chilli CD: Purchase another Chilli prepaid pack > insert the Chilli CD > enter the Access Keys and follow the prompts.
- By Credit Card: Click on the Top-Up My Account button through the Control Panel and select payment by Credit Card.

(8) Can I top-up my account when I still have time left on my old card?
Yes. You can activate the Access Key before your current card has expired. We recommend that you purchase a new Access Kit or Top-up voucher at least 2-3 days before your current access expires. The number of days of unlimited access associated with the new Access Key will be added to your existing account.

(9) Do I need to create a new account when I top-up my account?
No. Topping-up either through another Chilli Prepaid Dial-Up kit or by Credit Card does not require a new account to be created.

(10) Is there an alternative to topping up?
Yes, you have the option of converting to a monthly plan by clicking on Convert to Monthly Plan button on the Chilli control panel or clicking on this link Convert to a Monthly Plan .

(11) What is a soft session limit?
Chilli limits your Internet sessions to 4 hours following which we will disconnect your connection. You are free to connect again after this but must login again first.

(12) Where can I purchase a new Prepaid kit?
Retail outlets Australia wide stock the Chilli Prepaid Dial-Up packs. Please consult our list of prepaid dial-up retailers.
Chilli Prepaid Dial-Up packs are also available directly from Chilli by going to www.chilli.net.au.

(13) Can I get a refund for unused Prepaid access?
No. Chilli Prepaid Internet cannot be refunded, transferred or redeemed.

(14) I have lost my Access Keys, what do I do?
If you lose your Access Keys after activating it, then you need not do anything. Your code cannot be used by anyone else.
If you lose your Access Keys before activating it, then you will need to purchase a new Prepaid Dial-Up kit. Unfortunately, Chilli cannot credit your account without an Access Key.

(15) Can I have more than one email address?
Yes. All prepaid accounts allow you to have 5 email addresses. The first Chilli email you setup with us when using a Chilli Prepaid Dial-Up pack will also be your username for dial-up internet.
To setup additional email addresses simply contact a Chilli Support Representative on 1300 655 554 or fill out our online support form.
When contacting us via the above mechanisms, be sure to provide (or have ready) your username and password so we can promptly setup your email address.

(16) Can I change my Prepaid account to a standard dial-up account?
Yes, you can do this by clicking on the Convert To a Monthly plan button on the Control Panel. Currently to convert to a monthly standard dial-up account will require setup of

(17) Is there a limit to the amount I can download?
No. There are no download limits or charges on the unlimited dial-up products.

(18) Can Prepaid customers publish a personal Web page?
Yes. All Chilli Prepaid customers are given 10MB of personal Web page. Please contact a Chilli Support Representative on 1300 655 554 if you wish to use this service, alternatively you can fill out our online support request form.
To setup this service we'll require both a username (which will form part of your website address) and a Password (which will be used to gain access to your web space).
A confirmation email will be sent with the necessary setup information for using this service.

(19) How do I configure my computer to connect to Chilli without the Control Panel?
Firstly you need to setup an account online through http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au and clicking on the New Account button to create your Chilli username and password. Following this you can manually setup a connection.
While Chilli recommends that you connect using the Chilli Control Panel. For Mac users or users who prefer to setup their own connections below are the key steps that must be followed to setup a connection manually depending on whether you want to connect using a computer with
Creating a new connection in Windows XP
- Go to the Windows Control Panel, found by clicking Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Open Network Connections, and click Create New Connection in the Network Tasks box (left hand side of the screen).
- This will pop up a box that prompts you to make some selections in regards to the connection you would like to set up. Choose the following options, and click next after each screen:
- Connect to the internet > next
- Set up my connection manually > next
- Connect using a dial-up modem > next
- Enter 'Chilli Dial' as the name of your ISP, and click next.
- Fill in the phone number 0198 307 183.
- Enter your newly created Chilli Dial-Up username (including "@chilli.net.au" ) and password, then your password again to confirm. Make sure that all three boxes listed on this screen are ticked, and click next.
- Choose 'Add a shortcut to this connection on my desktop', and click finish.
- Your connection has now been successfully set up to dial-in to Chilli!
Creating a new connection in Windows 2000
- Click the Start button , select Settings and then Control Panel.
- Inside the Control Panel windows double click on the Network and Dialup Connections icon.
- Double click the Make New Connection icon.
- A welcome screen appears, click Next.
- The Network Connection Type window appears. Select Dial-up to the Internet and then click Next.
- The Welcome to the Internet Connection Wizard appears.
- Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually , or I want to connect through a Local Area Network (LAN) and click Next.
- Now select I connect through a phone line and a modem and then click Next.
- Now you will be asked for information about the location you are dialing . Leave the Area code box empty. Type in the entire phone 0198 307 183 in the Telephone number box. Also make sure that Use area code and dialing rules is NOT checked and then click Next
- Now enter your newly created Chilli username including the "@chilli.net.au" into the User name box and your password into the Password box and click Next.
- Now type in a name for your connection as "Chilli Dial" and click the Next button
- You will then be asked if you want to set up an email account, select NO and click Next.
- The last window of the wizard appears. You are not ready to connect yet so do not select the checkbox besides To connect to the internet... Click the Finish button to close it.
Creating a new connection in Windows 98/ME

- Windows 98
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Windows Me
- Click on Start, then Settings, then click on Dial-Up Networking.
- Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
- You will then see the following window.
- In the box for the name of the computer you're dialling, type Chilli Dial.
- Select the type of modem that is installed in your system.
- Click the Next button.

- Do not enter anything into the Area Code box.
- Type the Australia-wide Chilli access number 0198 307 183 into the Telephone Number box
- Select the Country Code as Australia.
- Click the Next button.

Finish here if you are using Windows ME

- Remove the tick from Use area code and Dialling Properties unless you are dialing up from outside of Australia.
- Click on the Server Types tab.

- In the box Type of Dial-Up Server make sure that PPP is selected.
- The only box to be ticked in the Advanced options area is Enable software compression.
- The only box to be ticked in the Allowed network protocols area is TCP/IP.
- Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- This window may look slightly different depending upon the version of Windows 98 you are using.

- Select Server assigned IP address.
- Select Server assigned name server addresses.
- Place a tick in both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network.
- Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button on each remaining window until you are returned to the Dial-Up Networking window.

- Select the Connections menu option located at the top of the window.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.

- Place a tick next to Show icon on taskbar.
- Place a tick next to Prompt for information before dialling.
- The options in the bottom half of this window can be set to your liking.
- Click the OK button.

- You can now close the Dial-Up Networking window.

(20) I'm a Mac user, how can I use the Chilli prepaid dial-up service without the Control Panel?
Firstly you need to setup an account online through http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au and clicking on the New Account button to create your Chilli username and password. Following this you can manually setup a connection.
While Chilli recommends that you connect using the Chilli Control Panel below are directions for setting up a connection in Mac OS X.
Creating a new connection in Mac OS X
- Click on the Apple menu at the upper left, then click on "System Preferences".
- Click on "Network".
- "Configure" should be set to "Modem Port".
- Under the "TCP/IP" tab, "Configure" should be set to "Using PPP".
- The IP address should be "Supplied by server".
- Click on the "PPP" tab:
- The service provider should be Chilli Internet
- Enter in Telephone Number 0198 307 183
- The Username and Password you enter should be the same as what you defined when you signed up online through http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au
- After making changes, click on "Save", then exit the window.
Connect and verify
- Open Internet Connect. It's in the Applications folder.
- Be sure the Configuration pop-up menu is set to your modem.
- Click the Connect button.
- Once Internet Connect says you're connected, open a Web browser or other Internet (TCP/IP) application to make sure your connection works.

(22) I forgot my password, how do I get it back?
If you forgot you password you can retrieve it either by clicking on the Forgotten Password link on the Chilli Control Panel or going to http://prepaid-dial.chilli.net.au and clicking on the Forgot Password link on that page.
